Did you know that October is Funding for Arts Month? Over that past decade or more, we’ve seen funding for arts based program dwindling to mere trickles in many places. Here are some links to places funding the arts (these deadlines are within the next one to six months)…
1. This month the Foundation Center is hosting a variety of events and activities that promote arts funding to organizations and individuals - Check it out… - I go here all the time to search out opportunities for myself (as a writer) and my clients.
2. Making a documentary? Check out this MacArthur Foundation opportunity… - These are the genius grant folks but they support artists in more specific ways too.
3. Got a story to tell? Check out the California Story Fund - I’ve been wanting to apply for this for awhile but have not quite figured out the project. Got an idea you want to bounce off me?
4. Want to bring a music program to a school or organization? Check out the Mockingbird Foundation’s Guidelines… - Now this could really help you start that school band or orchestra or maybe it’s a community choir you want to create in time for a Holiday concert.
6. The Creative Work Fund is accepting LOIs for its projects featuring media or performing artists (scroll down page for instructions) - Here is a CHOICE opportunity
8. Want to travel and get paid to finish that book? Vermont Studio Center might be for you… - I’m going here to work on my novel, yay!
